⊘ The problem
A nursing home in Val Dossola (IT) operates in a challenging climate that requires:
high continuity of heat and domestic hot water
unstable and unpredictable energy costs
dependence on the national power grid
maximum reliability to ensure guest comfort
✓ The solution
Installation of a Green Power Technologies s.r.o. (GP 7.5 (7.5 kWe / 15 kWt) methane micro-cogenerator for the simultaneous production of electricity and heat.
The facility consumed the energy produced on site without waste and without dependence on the grid.
★ The benefits
The project has generated net annual savings of approximately €11,800, allowing the facility to recoup its investment in less than three years. This result was made possible by thehigh efficiency of the system and the total self-consumption of the energy produced.
From an environmental perspective, the RSA reduces its emissions by 18.5 tons of CO₂ each year, saving 4.8 TOE of primary energy (useful for applying for EECs – white certificates) and reducing local pollutants such as NOₓ and fine particulate matter (PM10). This is a tangible benefit for air quality in a sensitive Alpine environment.
The result is a more autonomous and truly sustainable structure, with an environmental impact equivalent to planting 250 trees. In just two years of operation, emissions comparable to over 90,000 km traveled by an average car have been avoided.
⇧ The performances
15,900 hours of cogenerator operation
119,250 kWh of electricity consumed
238,500 kWh of thermal energy recovered
Overall energy efficiency: 93%
