✓ The solution

Installation of a high-efficiency Green Power Technologies s.r.o. (GP 7.5 (7.5 kWe / 15 kWt) methane micro-cogenerator located in the inner courtyard.

The plant interfaces with the centralized system, simultaneously producing electricity for the entire building and heat for heating and domestic hot water.

The habilitation units benefited from maximum self-consumption, minimizing dependence on the grid.

The problem

An urban residence in the center of Prague, consisting of 12 apartments, needed a solution that could:

  • Reduce energy costs for heating, hot water , and electricity

  • Improving the energy class of the building (PENB)

  • Ensuring service continuity in a harsh continental climate

  • Integrating into a dense urban environment with acoustic and visual constraints

The end result is a more autonomous and sustainable building more autonomous and sustainable, capable of producing energy efficiently, demonstrating how micro-cogeneration represents a concrete solution for the energy transition of cities and an immediate reduction in energy costs thanks to the high self-consumption of the electricity produced.

These benefits are further enhanced by access to Czech incentives for high-efficiency cogeneration, which also contribute toincrease in property value through improved energy efficiency (PENB).

From an environmental standpoint, in less than a year of operation, approximately 14.5 tons of CO₂ have been avoided, resulting in savings of 3.8 TOE of primary energy (eligible for TEE—white certificates), equivalent to removing 8 cars from urban traffic for a year. All this with a quiet and unobtrusive installation (58–63 dB), compatible with urban residential life.

  • 47,250 kWh of electricity produced

  • 94,500 kWh of thermal energy recovered

  • 15,120 cubic meters of methane consumed
